The inherent small size and low mass of MBE’s core control system design is well suited to weight critical aviation applications. MBE is actively involved in the development and production of a number of aircraft propulsion control systems, including projects compliant with DO-178C for safety-critical applications. Our integral Engine Health Monitoring systems provide short term prediction of not only the aircraft engines’ electronic system integrity but also the mechanical state of the engine. Engine management systems are extremely important in commercial vehicles. OK so you don’t want to go from 0-60 in two or three seconds. But if you can make the engine work just a little more efficiently, the savings will be huge given the large numbers of miles that these vehicles travel and the often heavy loads. With huge investment in R&D, MBE can help deliver these.
The inexorable push towards lower emissions and lower CO2 levels coupled with various enabling technologies has opened up new directions for powertrain development. For a small engine to be able to deliver the driveability and performance associated with conventional engine topologies while concurrently reducing all tailpipe emissions requires the latest technological enhancements.
When a major Tier 1 supplier needed to demonstrate its own powertrain design capabilities incorporating Cam Phase Control, Cam Lift Control, Electronic Throttle Control, Piezo Direct Injectors, Serial Twin Turbo Wastegate and Charge Pressure Control, Synchronous Direct Injection Fuel Pressure Control etc. It really only had one choice for an engine management supplier.
MBE designed and supplied all the control components needed within weeks of being asked in order to meet the challenging timescale. By utilising an existing core platform, MBE was able to select electronic hardware modules.

As reliability is all important in this sector, from the amateur to professional, all MBE motorsport products are designed and built to the same standards demanded by the large Tier 1 OEMs. Configuration and calibration are performed using our own calibration tools and employs either a USB-CAN interface (985) or USB-CAN interface incorporating adjustment knobs for quick and easy adjustment of key variables which need to be calibrated, such as fuel, ignition and boost pressure factors.
